Security Report

by | Jun 17, 2024

For the month of April, the Patrol worked 200 hours protecting Garden Hills. Additionally 23 homes were checked while members were out of town.

The Homeless (the City designation, Residentially Challenged) continue to be a problem since the encampments under the I-85 bridges have been shut down as well as the encampment under the bridge on Cheshire Bridge Road. Efforts have been made by these folks to make a new camp by the railroad tracks at Lindbergh and Peachtree Hills, but the Norfolk & Southern Police have worked closely with Zone II to close these camps as soon they show up.

Below is a chart noting criminal activity in Garden Hills during the first quarter of 2024. We had a total of 14 incidents as reported through 911. Our two most active areas are theft of property from vehicles and vandalism – 3 each. We could drive theft of property to zero if folks wouldn’t leave stuff in their vehicles. Another reason for the good numbers is the absence of the bars and related undesirable establishments in the 300 block of Pharr Rd. Never knew boarded up buildings could look so good.
